CrypTools Manual — Portfolio and Strategies Tracking
Updated: 31 October 2026
1. Introduction
CrypTools is not an investment-advice service. Users must build their own portfolio and choose its assets after doing their own research. CrypTools does not promise returns and does not make decisions on the user’s behalf.
CrypTools is a portfolio and strategy tracker and optimizer. The graph follows the real portfolio, a Buy & Hold strategy, user-created virtual portfolios and nine Ghost portfolios. The optimizer provides decision support, but it does not execute transactions automatically.
2. Portfolio and Strategies Tracking
The tracking view clearly compares:
- the real portfolio and its evolution over time;
- the Buy & Hold strategy, which keeps its starting quantities;
- virtual portfolios configured by the user;
- nine Ghost portfolios: three strategies, each represented at three intensity levels.
The strategy names match the interface: Diversified (standard), Balanced risk and Minimum volatility. The intensity levels are Conservative, Balanced and Aggressive.
3. Creating Ghost and virtual portfolios
From an existing real portfolio, the user can create the Ghost curves once. They are copies of the real portfolio at that moment and then evolve in parallel, each with its own strategy and intensity.
Virtual portfolios are also copies of the real portfolio at the time they are created. Users can create them to test their own choices using the three available strategies and three intensity levels. For a clearer comparison, create the Ghost and virtual portfolios at the same time and from the same real-portfolio state.
Once created from the real portfolio, each virtual portfolio must be optimized regularly. At each optimization, the engine determines the strategy and intensity according to market conditions. The user must then approve, edit, or reject the optimization proposal.
4. Weekly pre-analysis
A reminder message will appear every week, or sooner if the portfolio has changed by more than 5%, prompting the user to run a new optimization.
The engine compares the available market state with the portfolio. The AI then suggests one of the three strategies and one of the three intensity levels. The user can keep that suggestion and start optimization, or choose Customize to change the strategy and intensity before continuing.
Pre-analysis is read-only: it positions the controls without saving a reallocation and without triggering a transaction.
After this step, an optimization must be performed as described in section 5.
5. Crypto Portfolio Optimizer
When the user starts optimization, CrypTools calculates a proposed portfolio reallocation. The proposal shows the target allocations and corresponding actions according to the available data, limits and exclusions.
The user remains in control. They can accept, modify or reject the proposed actions, or cancel the proposal. Accepting a proposal in CrypTools does not mean that a transaction has been executed. Real transactions always require a separate user action and confirmation.
Past optimizations can be reviewed in the decision history of the relevant portfolio.
6. One optimization for each portfolio
In V1, applying an optimization to the real portfolio is locked. A copy of the real portfolio can still be created as a virtual portfolio to simulate its optimization; this copy keeps its own decisions and history without affecting real funds.
Every final optimization of a real or virtual portfolio automatically re-optimizes its associated Ghosts in the same common session, applying each Ghost’s own strategy and intensity. Ghosts have no independent optimization schedule. Pre-analysis, a proposal refresh or an hourly valuation does not re-optimize them.
7. Frequency and comparable dates
Real and virtual portfolios should be analyzed and optimized about once a week. For a more consistent comparison, optimize all portfolios on the same day whenever possible.
The active rule allows manual optimization no sooner than every six days, which is approximately weekly. An earlier optimization can be allowed when the portfolio’s weighted move reaches 5% from the previous baseline.
8. Key points
- CrypTools tracks portfolios and strategies; it does not choose assets for the user.
- Virtual and Ghost portfolios are simulations kept separate from real funds.
- The AI suggests a strategy and intensity; the engine calculates the reallocation.
- The user can accept, modify, reject or cancel the proposal.
- CrypTools does not execute transactions automatically.
- Observed performance does not guarantee future results.
